Laser Hair Removal

At Complete Laser we have two lasers both are medical grade lasers called the “Candela Gentle Yag” and the “Cutera Xeo Yag” Both lasers are safe for all skin types, even tanned skin.

The Yag Laser system has a long pulse making this laser safe for darker skin tones. The easiest person to treat for laser hair removal has darker hair on lighter skin, but there are now lasers (the Nd:YAG) that can be used to remove hair on a darker skin tone.

At Complete Laser & Esthetics we do not use IPL for hair removal treatments. IPL operates differently to medical grade lasers as it sends out multiple rays of light which is a less targeted approach than a medical laser machine. A medical laser produces a single wavelength of light (pure light consisting of one single colour and form), which has a very concentrated beam and specific target (the melanin in the hair follicle).

Lasers still do not work well for grey hair, fine blond hair, or women with hormonal problems such as polycystic ovarian disease. A client with lighter body hair or darker skin tone may need more treatments for effectiveness.

There are two different cooling systems with each of our lasers. Our Candella Yag offers a dynamic cooling device called Cryogen which is sprayed onto the skin before the laser hits the skins surface. Our Cutera Xeo offers a full contact cooling tip that is constantly touching the skin. Both lasers provide full protection to the skin, making each treatment safe and effective. Using the correct medical lasers we have the ability to provide 80-90% reduction after 6-8 treatments. Then maintence is highly recommended to maintain reduction.

By having two lasers at the clinic we have the availabily to book clients in easier and quicker to keep you on your correct hair cycle schedule.

How to Prepare for Laser Hair Removal

If you are planning on undergoing laser hair removal, you should limit tweezing, waxing, and electrolysis four to six weeks before treatment.

That’s because the laser targets the hair roots, which are temporarily removed when you wax or tweeze.

Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds and self-tanners one week before treatment. All areas should be covered and using a sunscreen 30+ if that area is getting exposure during laser treatments.

The night or morning before your laser treatments we ask you to be clean shaven so there is no hair on the surface. This is very important as we want the laser to be attracted to the hair follicle and not get reflected off the hair on the surface of the skin.

All makeup and lotion should be removed prior to treatment.

If antibiotics or any new medications have been started, inform your provider prior to treatment.

Avoid any medication if it causes photosensitivity. If you are on a photosensitive medication make sure you avoid laser treatments until finished that medication.

Topical Numbing Cream can be applied to the treated area 45 minutes before to add more comfort.

We wax with berodin blue hard wax for all sensitive areas. The wax adheres firmly to fine and coarse hair without sticking to skin.
